Canon wise... Jean is the whiniest badass u know. He's a very capable soldier, but he's also not shy about pointing out how much everything blows and is pretty much the dude going "we're so fucked" at least once per arc. Bert sweats, Jean whines, the sun comes up and goes down, etc. He's a good kid, though, and since I'm taking him from later on in the manga he's mellowed somewhat from what I could have subjected you all to.

As far as the current AU event goes... Jean is a jock, right? What sport does he play? Eren's on the soccer team, so if he's a soccer jock, they used to be teammates! And if not, the two of them can always argue about which sport is superior.
