Philly boy is one of Sorrow's favorites, though why is a very tricky question. A lot of it centers around the fact that he CAN see Red, and he knows that he asked to be killed. However, does that mean it's forgiveable? He doesn't know yet. Sorrow tends to remain somewhat distant for his own reasons, mostly because being close to him (figuratively and literally) is bad for people. Philip would do better to talk to him in person, since it feels more natural for him. The writing thing results in like, 10x more cryptic.

Excite thinks Philip is just a DANDY fellow and can't understand why he's so mean to him or why he doesn't want to be besties with Sorrow.

Varric got the feeling that Philip was a little bit on the spacey side, but he just thinks he might be slow or preoccupied with other things. But he still wants to have a drink withthe guy, get him to loosen up and be officially added to the Bro Harem.
