Subaru's rather friendly and while he's a vampire, he won't run around biting you all. Van is...well, if you want a fight find Van. And poke his ego. Or tell him you're a Black Dragon. Or outsmart him. You'll never rid yourself of the fellow. ...Much less his loud declarations of 'I'll slay my enemies!'
