So a few months ago, a certain Dark One tried to cast a certain spell and it ended up backfiring spectacularly and that's why the Dark One's curse has been making rounds around Wonderland like a lice infestation in a preschool.
Well, said Dark One is back and is... Not the Dark One anymore. Yes, friends, Gold is BACK and he's not the same guy you remember from way back when... Well, he sort of is. But also not. It's complicated.
Basically, Gold's had a hard time, and after death, resurrection, forced enslavement, a plot solely to help Frozen sell more merchandise, his marriage falling apart, and a buddy villain adventure with half the Disney Rogues Gallery, he's finally gotten a redemption arc that may actually stick. We think. Either way, Gold is arriving after the sixth episode in Season Five, wherein new Dark One Emma Swan has forced him to embrace heroism and pull Excalibur from the stone. Yeah, this is... the canon we play from. I don't make this shit up.
He'll be arriving with said sword (which is broken), and will be so very unhappy to be taken away FROM HIS WIFE AND HIS PLOT TO DEFEAT THE NEW DARK ONE. GOD, WONDERLAND.
He also has forgotten all of you, but that happens a lot so he won't really be worried about it. #MemoryCurses.
