+ OOC Secret Santa +
Time for one of my favorite Ewaymas traditions - OOC Secret Santa! We've done it the last few years and thought we'd keep it going. ♥
How will this work? Well, you comment to this point under the Secret Santa thread with this form:
Sign-ups will close December 3rd, and soon after all participants will be sent their secret partner by e-mail. Once you have your partner, you need to come up with a present for them by December 25th. You'll then send that gift to your partner by E-mail and they will have very happy holidays because of you. Hooray!
Here's a little mini-FAQ for you (but there will also be a FAQ thread like we do for the events):
What can I send as Secret Santa presents? Do I have to spend money? CAN I spend money? This is ultimately split into two categories - monetary gifts and creative gifts. We live in a magical age where a large majority of websites offer internet gift cards that can be sent digitally, and only require a name and email address. But you absolutely do NOT have to give anything that costs money. Gifts of art, fic, icons, or any other creative things are more than welcome! For monetary gifts though, we heavily suggest that you keep it between $10-$15.
Examples of Monetary Gifts
Examples of Creative Gifts
Is it okay if I don't/can't do a monetary gift? Absolutely! No matter what you send someone, it's going to be valuable because you put in time and effort, and thought about what kind of present they would enjoy. Please don't feel pressure to bust out your credit card - times are hard and not everyone even has ways of buying things online.
Is it okay if I don't/can't do a creative gift? Absolutely! Sometimes inspiration just doesn't come. Besides, it's a busy season and no one's going to judge you if you don't have time to draw the next Mona Lisa. It's the thought that counts, and gift cards can be just as meaningful as anything else.
But I really wanted to sent my Secret Santa a present in the mail! Please don't, unless it's 100% okay with your gift-ee (in other words, you'd have to reveal yourself and ask them, and if they say no then no). This is why we're not asking anyone for their real addresses - it's a little too invasive on the mod end of things, and I know I personally don't feel comfortable distributing people's addresses to random players. Not that I distrust any of you, but it feels skeevy so we're playing entirely with E-mail here.
Tell me more about that new donation option! First of all, you should only do this option if your giftee has listed a charity to give to, and it is on the giftees to find out whether their charity of choice is feasible or not. Ideally for this, you want a charity or organization where a donation can be gifted with just an email address. There are a lot of organiations that either require an address or do not have an email option though, and if there is one that you really want supported on your behalf, it is up to you to make it clear to your secret santa how you would like that arranged in the Notes section of your form.
Is it okay if I don't/can't make a donation? Is it okay if I don't give a charity to donate to? Of course it's okay! You're giving someone a gift here, and it's entirely okay for you to pick what you want to give. There's no need for guilt whatsoever. There's all kinds of reasons someone might not include a charity too. A lot of them do still require addresses, or maybe your charity of choice isn't feasible for an online donation for some other reason. On the flipside, there are also plenty of reasons a donation might be difficult for someone to give as a gift. It's just another option.
Uh, I live outside the United States and I'm not sure Gift certificates would even work for me? Then say so in on your form somewhere! You don't have to get specific, but not every site ships everywhere, so your Secret Santa should know ahead of time if the internet doesn't ship to your evil lair on a deserted island in the Pacific Ocean. Then they'll know they should probably do DW tokens, a creative gift, or something they KNOW FOR CERTAIN you'll actually be able to enjoy.
What if I can't do Secret Santa anymore? Tell one of the mods (preferably me since I'm organizing it, but any of the others will make sure the message gets to me) so that we can do something about it. We don't want to leave anyone stranded without a Secret Santa! If we have people who need to drop out of Secret Santa, then we will post a call for Pinch Hitters to step in and save the day. We won't tell your gift-ee who you were or why you needed to drop out; we'll just assign a Pinch Hitter to them.
It's 11:59PM on December 25th and I'm TOTALLY ALMOST DONE REALLY but it's going to be late. Help? Fess up to your gift-ee so that THEY know something's coming for them soon.
I didn't get anything - does my Secret Santa just hate me? :( NO, I'M SURE THAT'S NOT IT. If you haven't gotten anything by like, the 26th or 27th, come talk to me and I'll try to figure out what happened for you.
I missed sign-ups! Can I still play? We're keeping sign-ups open until December 3rd, but if you miss the deadline, come talk to me. If there's enough interest, I might be able to match up late-comers. If not, then you can volunteer to be a Pinch Hitter. If someone drops out of Secret Santa then we'll give you a shout and you can step in. We can't guarantee that there will be a need for Pinch Hitters, but if there is then we'll put out a call for them. ♥
Does my gift have to show up EXACTLY on December 25th? Nope! You can give your gift and reveal yourself any time between December 18th and December 25th. Try not to give them out earlier than that, please. And again, if you're going to be late, let your gift-ee know.
Do I have to play? Not at all! It's just a fun little thing we do every year that we thought we'd do again. There's no pressure whatsoever.
Any other questions can go in the FAQ thread and I'll answer them as soon as possible. And remember, have fun and spread lots of holiday cheer! ♥
EDIT: SIGN-UPS ARE NOW CLOSED!

But you absolutely do NOT have to give anything that costs money. Gifts of art, fic, icons, or any other creative things are more than welcome! For monetary gifts though, we heavily suggest that you keep it between $10-$15.
- Dreamwidth Tokens: Or other paid services on DW. Things like paid accounts or icons are more than welcome.
- Amazon.com: One of (if not the) largest bookseller on the internet and also a good place for other assorted things.
- Chocomize: On Chocomize, you can build your own custom chocolate bar with whatever you want in it - nuts, dried fruit, curry powder, gummy bears, bacon, or even flakes of gold if you're feeling ~fancy~!
- And a WHOLE bunch of other places: Seriously, a lot of stores with online shops have E-Gift cards availible. Etsy, Lush Cosmetics, Modcloth, Teavana, Threadless, and countless other sites have E-Gift Cards.
- Donations: A new option this year! We all know that 2016 has been an extremely upsetting and trying year for various reasons, but a lot of people don't have the cash to throw money at the causes that mean the most to them. Fortunately, an increasing number of charities allow online "In Honor" donations that do not require a street address, so if there's a charity that means a lot to you, put it in the Notes section of your sign up form and maybe your secret santa will make a donation in your name.
- Fanart: Draw some art for your gift-ee! Maybe of their character, or a thread they did, or even just of something you know they enjoy!
- Fanfiction: Same thing; different medium! Write your gift-ee a fanfic you think they might enjoy! Maybe about their characters, or their time in Wonderland, or even just a canon you know they love.
- Fanmixes: For the more musically inclined, there's always making a fanmix. You can do it the old fashioned way and E-mail them it as a .zip or .rar file, or you can use a site like 8Tracks to make your mix! (Here's the one I did for Entranceway in general). Great topics include their characters, plots, or even just a mix for how awesome you think they are.
- Icons: Is your gift-ee an iconaholic? Or could they just use some more? Then go ahead and bust our your Photoshop and make them some more!
- Custom Layout: Try making your gift-ee a new layout for their journals, if you're good at that sort of thing! Just make sure you tell them how to install it.
- Anything else you can come up with: Seriously, if you've got a good idea then go for it!
Is it okay if I don't/can't do a monetary gift? Absolutely! No matter what you send someone, it's going to be valuable because you put in time and effort, and thought about what kind of present they would enjoy. Characters: James Potter [
E-mail: timefortags[AT]gmail[dot]com
Notes: First of all HELLO SECRET SANTA DON'T BE SCARED YOU GOT ME THERE IS ZERO PRESSURE I have it set up so that it's very difficult for me to actually look up my own secret santa, so your anonymity is safe, I promise. Anyway, my biggest fandoms are Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland (naturally), and a whooole bunch of Western Cartoons (Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall, Steven Universe, Star Vs., etc etc). I like chocolate, I like tea, I like books, I like paid time, and I will cry for weeks over literally any fanwork shoved at me so I'm pretty easy to please? Another option for me would be a donation to the ACLU, if you'd rather do something like that! Seriously though, anything you want to do would be appreciated forever and ever. ♥

E-mail: ecojak777@gmail.com
Notes: I cannot receive anything through physical mail, so I'd prefer anything digital, please. ;w; Also if you'd like anything back, I'm a digital artist/sprite artist/programmer, though this month is going to be a bit slow art-wise. I'll still get to whatever I can!

Characters: Elizabeth (
E-mail: howlinmad88@gmail.com
Notes: The main fandoms I'm into are Bioshock, Dragon Age, Game of Thrones, Fallout 4, Hamilton, Disney, Pokemon, and I love anything to do with US history. I love cats and foxes, chocolate, crafting, and books. I'm particularly excited by the idea of creative gifts, but I will be absolutely delighted with anything at all. If you'd prefer to donate, I'd like it to be to my local animal shelter.

Characters: Frisk

Notes: As you can probably tell from who I play, my biggest fandom loves are Undertale and Marble Hornets, with a side of stuff like Borderlands, Buffyverse, Steven Universe, and Stargate. I'm not picky - you can do something creative, you can do paid time, you can do fandom-related merch, you can do whatever you like!

Characters: I play Elena Gilbert
E-mail: throughworlds [at] gmail [dot] com
Notes: The fandoms I actively play from are The Vampire Diaries and The Flash. Other shows I love are Parks & Rec, Bob's Burgers, and Brooklyn 99 - basically, anything that makes me laugh. Absolutely anything from the creative list put together above would be amazing, I'm very easy to please, I promise. My only request to my secret santa is: if you do decide to go for a monetary gift, please think of donating to Standing Rock. Thank you!

Characters: Dorian Gray |
E-mail: animal_wonder[at]hotmail[dot]com
Notes: Hi! I'm that weird person who thought bringing in a guy from a Victorian novel would be a great idea. Besides Gothic literature and the Victorian era (which includes steampunk) I also like Hatoful Boyfriend, Black Butler, Gravity Falls, and the world of Harry Potter (I'm a casual fan on that last one, so I can't provide any tiny details like what what house Dumbledore's boyfriend belonged to).
I don't have any charity in mind to donate to, and I would rather not have a gift card for that Chocomize thing.

Characters: Dean Winchester

Lately it's been Steven U, Supernatural (obv), iZombie, Sailor Moon, Stranger Things, DC Comics, Preacher, Supergirl, One Punch Man, Pokemon, Kill La Kill, New Girl, and practically everything else all the way down to vidya games. Anyone interested in a monetary gift is welcome to donate to random acts, the animal shelter, or the women's and children's shelter.

I really only play Klaus from The Originals but I am also very into Harry Potter (for l i f e), witty sitcoms (Bob's Burgers, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn 99), and feel good superhero action/dramas (Supergirl!!!, The Flash). I would absolutely love anything creative. I only ask that if you would like to give me a monetary gift to please donate to ACLU, Planned Parenthood, or Standing Rock.

Notes: I like a ton of things but I'm an admitted history nerd. I guess my main fandoms are like...Uncharted, The Mummy, Tomb Raider, BioShock, A Series of Unfortunate Events...my tumblr might be helpful, but I really like all kindsa stuff. I'm a fan of playlists, tea, fanart, fic, old maps, and Art Deco. CREATIVE GIFTS ARE AWESOME. If you do want to go the monetary route, I'd like for the money to be donated to Standing Rock! ♥

Characters: John Winchester
E-mail: hkmmurph@gmail.com
Notes: I prefer creative gifts, b/c I feel kinda weird about people spending money on me this time of year. I've got a few fandoms to pick from: Supernatural, Twilight (haha i know right), Uncharted, Sons of Anarchy, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Steven Universe, and Revolution. My muselist is right over here, too, to give you an idea of my faves. Any kinds of creative gifts are cool, icons or art or fic. Custom layouts are a w e s o m e. I also super love pugs. I'd prefer paid stuff to be like Dreamwidth services, or in the form of donation to Planned Parenthood or cancer research organizations(NOT SUSAN G KOMEN OH GOD).

Characters: Legion
E-mail: dragonrider_25@hotmail.com
Notes: I don't have much of a preference when it comes to gifts: all these possibilities sound great to me! My fandoms are many and varied, and include Mass Effect, Halo, Fallout, just about any other game that has A.I. or robots. (I am kind of obsessed with synthetics in general, to be honest.) I also like Harry Potter, Star Wars, Steven Universe and Gravity Falls, though not as much.

Characters: Wanda Maximoff (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
E-mail: tessavellian [AT] gmail [DOT] com
Notes: My full muselist (http://herecomes-thesun.dreamwidth.org/295.html) gives a rough idea of a lot of the canons I enjoy, though there's quite a bit not represented there too (liiiike Star Wars, Harry Potter, A Series of Unfortunate Events... I could keep going but YEAH). I have no preference as to monetary or creative gifts; they're all lovely. I will add that if you prefer to go the donation route in the monetary category -- ocean conservation/advocacy is Super Important to me, so I'd request that any donation gift go to Oceana (http://oceana.org/)

Characters: Rebekah Mikaelson

Notes: my major fandoms are Harry Potter, TVD/The Originals, Teen Wolf, DCEU, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, and Dragon Age. I love fanmixes a lot and custom layouts are always awesome to me because I have no talent in that sort of stuff, but I have no preference in monetary or creative gifts. If you wanted to go the donation route after this year I'm really concerned with women's rights and I'd love to see donations to either RAINN (the Rape and Incest National Network) or Planned Parenthood. Thank you.

Characters: Philip (radiopalkiller) from the Penumbra trilogy, and Cullen Rutherford (morework) from the Dragon Age games
E-mail: lamouettelunaire (at) gmail (dot) com
Notes: So first off, I swear I am the lowest maintenance person on the planet when it comes to gifts, so don't sweat it, I'll be excited about any choice you make!
FANSTUFF: I will instantly adore anyone who does art/writing/mixes for me. My #1 fandom currently is Dragon Age, so you really can't go wrong there, but here is my muselist with lots more fandoms, and maybe my tumblr can also give you some ideas. I'm happy about both eway-centric and pure canon stuff!
GIFT CERTIFICATES: That's the only option where you'll need to be a bit careful, because I live in Austria, so often sites will either not ship to my country at all, or do it at so high a cost that using them would eat up all the certificate money, which is just a shame for both of us. I do know that topatoco is an option, for instance, and of course I can always use DW points! I have a steam wishlist too, which is often p cheap around the holidays. I'm sure there's more though, so you're bound to find something good in that category, if you want it.
CHARITIES: My own heart is mostly with national charities, so I think cross-ocean support might be a little tricky there, BUT! If there is a charity that is very dear to you, then I'm also happy for you to just tell me a little about them, and give us both a gift by donating to them (in your name or mine, either works).
PHYSICAL GIFTS: Nope! Besides, shipping cost? Super not worth it, so let's not go there.
OTHER STUFF: ???? ANYTHING, GO WILD, I cannot wait to see what you come up with! ♥♥♥

CHARITIES ❤ honeylove.org, randomacts.org, donorschoose.org (My sister and several friends are teachers. They often use money out of their own pockets to buy school supplies for their students. My sister bought jackets in the past for some of her students that didn't have winter clothes.)
FANDOM STUFF ❤ Here's some of the characters I play. Supernatural, The Walking Dead, Bioshock, Marvel, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Star Wars, The Office, Kpop (BTS, Twice, BLACKPINK. YESSSSS.) I’ve always wanted a personalized icon. If you aren’t an artist? Don’t sweat it! I love Steffi’s art! A crazy!7.21 Castiel icon would be awesomeeee. Fanmixes/art/fanfics. I lowkey ship Cas with Dean, Sam, Meg, Crowley, uh, everyone?

Characters: Dustin Henderson (

Notes: This is my first secret santa, I'm super excited! Fandoms I'm in: Stranger Things, Harry Potter (specifically Fantastic Beasts!), Powers (comics and TV show), Mr. Robot, and pretty much most things that are out there in Broadway. (I am a die-hard Rent fan and Hamilton, Newsies, and Next 2 Normal are among my favourites).
I play League of Legends, World of Warcraft and Overwatch very regularly. Charities and whatnot, while I don't have any specifics, it would be super cool if you donated anything for Cleidocranial Dysplasia since I'm playing someone who has it.
Non-monetary, I'd absolutely love anything music related, like fanmixes or the like. If you're icon inclined, more Dustin! I'm not that creative myself despite being in this hobby, so I'm always in wonder of all of the stuff people can make.
Honestly though you could just draw stick figures and I would love it forever. ♥

I promise, I'd love anything you made on the creative side - I'm in awe of the edits/fanmixes/fanworks people do on the regular. I have zero preference, so go with whatever would be easiest on you!!
I only ask that if you go for a monetary donation, please go for Standing Rock, CAIR, or the ACLU. ♥

Notes: Fandoms I'm currently into are MCU, Dragon Age, LOTR, and hippos because they are their own fandom and should be protected at all costs. I have absolutely no preferences over what I would prefer, gift cards always work or fan art! As for non-fandom things I adore reading, hippos, other animals, hippos, knitting, drawing, and messing around in photoshop making icons. As for a donation option, The Peter Talen Scholarship fund @ my old school is near and dear to my heart since it was created after my friend Peter passed away suddenly in a house fire. Info about the scholarship is here and info on donating is here. They don't have an online donation option, but a check can be sent to:
UW-La Crosse
Attention: Center for the Arts, Theatre Dept
1725 State Street
La Crosse, WI 54601, USA
Just make sure to include in the envelope that it's for the Peter J. Talen Scholarship!

Characters: Jo Harvelle |
E-mail: myyahelle@gmail.com
Notes: No preference as to the type of gift! Fandomwise, my favorites are Final Fantasy, Shin Megami Tensei/Persona, Warcraft, BioWare (Dragon Age/Mass Effect/SWTOR, specifically), Buffyverse/Angel, Supernatural, Star Wars and Harry Potter. Creative gifts are always especially wonderful, but gift cards are just as nice if you prefer doing a monetary gift. For the latter, Amazon, PSN or Steam would definitely get use!

Characters: Beckett Warner |
E-mail: starfleets@live.com
Notes: I'm currently keeping up with
the kardashiansAsh vs Evil Dead, Dragon Ball Super, and a vast assortment of Korean Dramas. My forever loves include Days of Our Lives (yes, the soap opera...), a good bulk of the Super Sentai franchise, and the pre-reboot Star Trek Big 4: TOS/TNG/DS9/VOY. Anything from the creative list above would be wonderful, though I do ask that you consider donating to Standing Rock in lieu of a monetary gift. The thought alone makes my holiday season, so I will 100% adore anything sent my way. ♥
