this is basically just a great big list of herpderp.

I've had a few people asking about the details behind the resistance, so I thought I'd just make an informational post so that everyone has all the information they need about it! The first and most important thing I want to stress is that you do not need to be invited to be in it. This is a completely handwave-able thing that you can totally just assume, and is by no means exclusionary in any way shape or form.

If you'd prefer a concrete source for how your character learned about / got involved with the resistance, we do have a list of members you can contact to work something out! Also feel free to add or remove yourself from the list at any time, as it's in the resistance hideout- more on that momentarily.

how did it get started?

It sort of loosely began around the time Dean started being a meddlesome kid and collecting information from the residents of Wonderland about the mirrors, the history of the place, organizing crap they could do to generally be all on the same page and face things more head-on. Where it really began, though, was during a great big event mingle party bonfire.

Basically, a bunch of clever people got together and started talking about ways to keep people safe during events, establish a database of knowledge, and find a way out for everyone.

cool so what are the benefits from this thing

I'm glad you asked. One of the coolest and most underutilized products of it, in my personal opinion, are these really bitchin notebooks designed by James Potter and passed around to everyone in the resistance. This, again, like all things you can totally handwave your character getting and use it whenever you like. If you read the Harry Potter books, you might be familiar with the charm they used in Order of the Phoenix. If not, all you really need to know is that whatever one person writes in these bad boys shows up in all of the notebooks. Basically, it's just a nifty way to communicate off of the network.

The more commonly heard of thing that people like to use is actually a setting. Daryl Dixon and James Potter were assigned with the task of creating a safehouse out in the middle of the woods. It's a good place to set threads if you're doing something sneaky and quiet, or generally just out of the way. It isn't on the map, but basically it's in a general that way direction in the woods, down a steep ridge, and hidden by magic and good old fashioned camouflage. It's also generally known at this point that certain werewolves use it to lock themselves inside during the full moon, so keep that in mind!

so what do they even actually do

That answer is not a whole lot to be honest, because nobody likes a police force dictating crap everywhere. They have a few meetings every once and a while, but mostly it's a tool for characters who just wouldn't ICly be inactively sitting around playing house. You've got your fighters, your sheriffs, your hunters, your werewolves, your whatevers that wouldn't be caught dead letting Wonderland do whatever it wants unimpeded, so it's largely used as a handwave group or a tool to say yes my character has been doing things other than making frankly excellent souffle.

And, of course, there are occasionally small plots that work around or in conjunction with events! For instance, after a huge chess event, Reals were swapped over to Mirror Side for a short time. During that time, Chihiro Fujisaki established a network connector that joined together the mirror network and the main entranceway network. Reals were able to monitor the mirror side for a short period of time. Unfortunately, that has since been destroyed, but may be something put back into play in the future.

Kyouko Kirigiri also established a sort of knowledge database through her own observations and in conjunction with people providing her notes, which is readily available on flash drives to anyone who wants it. Copies are stored in Fort Dixon-Potter.

It's also used to handwave safe full moon shenanigans with werewolf characters, to imply a night watch citizen patrol thing, implemented for stuff like this future event. Basically anything you want to use it for is completely wide open, no questions asked. It's not a huge thing, it's not exclusionary, it doesn't do much aside from give you whatever tools you need to accomplish whatever plots you want to accomplish and have your character be as ICly involved either through threading or hand waved behind the scenes, and to provide your character with an IC information source they might otherwise have to expend a lot of energy digging for.

The only rules there are around it are more like IC guidelines, mainly don't mention it on the network or in front of mirrors, and generally be hush hush about it out of fear of screwing everyone over by tipping their hand to some nefarious observer.

That's pretty much it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Otherwise, use it at your leisure!

I see that PotC reference in there. /frysquint

But yes good, because I've been wanting to push Hector into the resistance, anyway, considering he very much hates sitting on his ass and twiddling his thumbs.

Yo just joining the chorus of saying thank you for collecting all of this! I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE NOTEBOOKS that sounds like an especially fun toy. <3

Oh oh wait I did think of a question!
Is there any central OOC place where shared resistance-knowledge about the setting is collected? Like what's in future!Chihiro's flash drives, what's in Kirigiri's database, what generally has been recorded in the notebooks so far, etc?
And if not ~would you like me to make one~? So we can all know what info everyone has access to, for handwaving purposes?

Totally willing! (Especially since I'm going to need to look it all up for IC reasons anyway. Might as well do some copypasting as I read.) Off the top of your head, is there anything other than the above links I should use for reference, or was that the all-encompassing list?

That's plenty to go on, thank you very much! A gdoc will be forthcoming.
